The EUMedEA Crash Course “Managing Crises at the EU Borders” is an advanced study and training course run by leading scholars, civil society organizations’ representatives and practitioners. It seeks to favour mutual exchange between academics, practitioners and students and provides a very intense training to PhD and M.A. students interested in EU external action and the management of crises at the Southern borders. The third edition of the Crash Course was held in Catania between 8 and 14 July 2018. This year, frontal lectures and discussions focused on issues such as the Mediterranean as a fault line, EU migration crisis, EU-Turkey deal and the issue of uncompanied minors, as well as the EU migration crisis management. A visit to the biggest asylum-seekers reception center in Sicily, namely the CARA in Mineo, further contributed to the training of participants.
