- L'ETA' DELLE RIVOLUZIONI E DELLE COSTITUZIONI: PROTAGONISMO DELLE MASSE E GOVERNO COSTITUZIONALE DELLE ÉLITES (1789-1848)
Presentation of the new historiographical Guidelines on Sicily in Early Modern Times which strongly innovates the image processed from the classical historiography, passing from the idea of isolation and immobility to that of change and renewal, in tune with the development of the whole of Italy and Europe.
Starting with a systematic knowledge, opinions of common sense and of episodic nature on the history of the Island, students will acquire a general and articulated knowledge of the most recent interpretative models of the current historiography on Early Modern Sicily

Guided by the teacher, the student will examine some of the issues outlined in first module, through the study of a scientifically appropriate review, in order to deal with the most advanced historiographical approach methods, through a personal and group approach.
The analysis of the urban dimension of Sicily during the early modern age, with a focus on the city of Catania, will enable to deepen the topics covered in the first part of the program.
