ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES (EAP)

This EAP course is tailored to the needs of students enrolled in the Global Politics and Euro-Mediterranean Relationships (GLOPEM) Master’s Degree programme. Its aim it to teach students how to use English appropriately in a study and research environment. Seminars will focus on an analysis of the types of texts students will be exposed to and expected to understand and produce in both written and spoken mode. The course will cover the following points:

3. Lexical Cohesion in Discourse
4. Discourse Structure
5. Collocation
6. Grammatical Metaphor
7. Ideology in Political Text
8. The Clause complex
9. Meaning and representation
10. Constituency in Writing and Speech.
