Learning Objectives

  • Public comparative law
    Aim of this unit is to acquaint the student with the joint analysis of several legal systems in order to shed light on similarities and divergencies.
  • Public comparative law
    The survey of some constitutional legal orders considered as “models” because of their influence on other systems makes possible to draw the student’s attention on some comparative public law crucial issues, such as those related to legal sources, the relationship between citizens and state, and the constitutional justice.
  • Public Comparative Law
    The aim is that of analyzing the relationship between Islam, on the one hand, and constitutionalism and democracy, on the other, in specific north-African systems.

Detailed Course Content

  • Public comparative law

    In this section, the origins of comparative law as well as its object and goals will be dealt with. Attention will then be focused on the crucial taxonomy of “constitution”.

  • Public comparative law

    In this unit the analysis of the main features of the contemporary constitutional legal orders (such as UK, USA, France) will be carried out in order to highlight the most important similarities and differences among them.

  • Public Comparative Law

    The constitutional charters of Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt will be discussed within the framework of the main tenets of the western constitutionalism.
